MAY 2020 VOLUME 2, NO.1

This year we published six scholarly works covering a range of topics in the art history field, including the conservation of ephemeral art, iconoclasm in early Islam, and Shanzhai 'counterfeit' culture in contemporary China. With this issue, we are excited to officially distribute our first, independent publication of the Columbia Art History Journal. With a cover illustration by an undergraduate visual artist, this volume inaugurates a tradition of showcasing emerging artist’s work along with art history research by their peers.

MAY 2019 VOLUME 1, NO.1

For our first issue, we partnered with the Columbia Journal of History to publish papers that focus on the interdisciplinary discourse of visual culture and history. As part of the Art History Initiative, we selected four research papers that tackled issues of climate change representation in art, 1980s Chinese propaganda, the politics of race in Adrian Piper's work, and reassessment of the Baroda narrative school as an accurate depiction of art history in India.
