WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A TEXT SUBMISSION?

We welcome papers focusing on any topic and using any methodology within the field of Art History. You may submit a version or part of a course research paper, independent study, or honors thesis. Papers are generally 8-15 pages in length, but we accept papers of any length. We are looking for high quality essays with deep insights on the traditions of art.

HOW AND WHEN CAN I SUBMIT MY PAPER?

We open the submission form in December and accept papers until late January. Please refer to the 'Submit' page for more information.

CAN I SUBMIT MULTIPLE PAPERS?

No, authors may only submit one paper at a time. Any additional texts will be withdrawn.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY SUBMISSION TO BE REVIEWED?

All submissions are peer-reviewed by the entire editorial board. The Editors-in-Chief keep the names and school affiliations of authors private to maintain their anonymity during the review process.This process usually lasts three to four weeks.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SUBMISSION IS ACCEPTED FOR PUBLICATION?

If selected for publication, your paper will be returned with revision notes. You will be matched with a lead editor and assistant editor who will work closely with you to prepare the text for publication.

MY ESSAY HAS ALREADY BEEN PUBLISHED ELSEWHERE, CAN I STILL SUBMIT IT TO THE COLUMBIA ART HISTORY JOURNAL?

No, we do not consider previously published material.

I AM NO LONGER AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT, CAN I STILL SUBMIT?

We will accept papers from students who graduated from an undergraduate degree no more than 7 months prior to their date of submission. We currently do not allow submissions from graduate school students.
